See Rich's answer at the bottom of the page.

In response, let me say that I choose to question the belief systems of Theists because they have control over the institutions of the world. These belief systems are irrational, intolerant and are used for political gain by self-righteous hypocrites who use their position as 'holy man' to gain power.
As a human being I have a right to not only question the acts of Theist institutions, but I also have the right to question the validity of Theist claims.
Could someone explain to me why Theists do not understand this concept? Do you always have to pull out the old tired 'he must be mad at god' nonsense? I do not believe in a god because there is zero evidence of one and all evidence of a god creating the world seems to be leaning in the exact opposite direction.

Aw, they do it because they think it winds us up. I know it doesn't really, but they get taught that in Bible class as a way of making it look like Christianity keeps you cool. I say, listen to Pat Robertson, Ian Paisley or Rush Limbaugh for five minutes and tell yourself that Christians aren't popping a vein out of their necks with suppressed rage.

Remeber you are dealing with people not just from across your country; but, also around the world. Missouri here.

The downfall of a message board; is that people can not here voice inflections, see facial expressions and body language. If you are just kidding about something, you must state so..else nobody will know it but you. if you don't mean to be harsh, you must also say so. sarcasm can be very misconstrued. Saying that someones beliefs are laughable is like shooting arrows at them.

You must choose your words carefully, so that they will not be misconstrued.

You said "These belief systems are irrational, intolerant and are used for political gain by self-righteous hypocrites who use their position as 'holy man' to gain power.", that is your belief (which you have a right to believe, correct or not). You must also realize that the people that you are talking to are normally NOT the "Holy man" in power. If people would shirk these "Holy Men" and retain their beliefs, the world might be a little better for it...don't hold your breathe.

These self-righteous "holy men" disgust me as much as you. they have same "leaven of the Pharisees" that Christ warned of. How can one be an ally with you, when you not only hate their leaders; but, them and/ their beliefs?
To be a friend you must present yourself friendly. You catch more flies with syrup than with acid. Even the Anti-Christ Popes, understand that.

Eph 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

I assume you meant "if" instead of "is".

Look at the nature of Theology for one minute and look at the world from inside a theology, or two, or three, for one minute.

They do so because their theology leaves them nothing else to think without committing the sin, sacrilege, or infidelity of having such a thought, even for a second!

The overlap of authority between Caesar and God was recognized in the Bible long ago, and also in the U.S. Constitution as separation between Church and State. Our government was founded by some people looking for freedom of religion and a few looking for freedom from religion. The "power" in a democratic nation should not be withheld from the majority without a compelling logic that makes itself self-evident.

Your question is Societal in nature. The question of "institutions of power" is Political in nature. The paradox of Theistic views of alternative Theisms is Philosophical in nature. Asking the question precisely on a conceptual level is necessary.

I uncover technological know-how backs up extra of the bible than contradicting it. As for the opposite religions, I've checked out them, however uncover they nonetheless lack what Christianity has. Truth. As for wondering my ideals, sure, however I do not query the fundamentals any further. I've noticeable an excessive amount of evidence to grasp that God is truly, Jesus is fairly my Savior and that I am in a longer term courting with Him.

If the theists butted out of world politics and legal matters, they could believe the moon is made of green cheese for all I care.

However, what they claim to be a "deeply held personal belief" is anything BUT personal. They have to inflict it on others. Spread "the good news" (as though we haven't heard it 5 million times).

Let them go practice their religion with others of their ilk before there is a societal backlash against them. It's overdue in my opinion.

It's the truth and anti-theists should be questioned and thought as that! True atheists don't question others by ridiculing, mocking and spewing false claims regardless of what's going on in this world. Your motives are venomous! You should question ur non-beliefs system because it doesn't line up with true atheists that doesn't demonize this site. Something is wrong with you!

"I condemn false prophets, I condemn the effort to take away the power of rational decision, to drain people of their free will--and a hell of a lot of money in the bargain. Religions vary in their degree of idiocy, but I reject them all. For most people, religion is nothing more than a substitute for a malfunctioning brain."

Maybe it's because your questions sound angry. Maybe it's because you keep asking the same questions over and over, as though you are going to get a different answer.

Maybe you really want to believe?
