The first answerer is correct. I'd just like to ad that when a semi auto reloads the chamber using the energy of the last round fired and cocks the gun. It can not refire unless the shooter has released the trigger after that last round and then pressed the trigger to fire the round just reloaded. This is the SEMI part of the semiauto classification.

Only a fully automatic, class III firearm, can fire more than one round without releasing the trigger to reset the mechanism. I just thought it might be of some help to add this to further clarify the previous answer.

The term is "action" There are many different type of gun actions. Bolt, lever, semi-automatic, slide (or pump), break (or hinge), falling block, rolling block. Revolvers can be single action or double action.
Basically action is the term for how a gun chambers a round to be fired.

Bolt action weapons Are loaded and unloaded by manually moving the action, or bolt. An automatic, or semi- automatic, uses the recoil or gas from a discharged round to AUTOMATICALLY eject the empty casing, recock, and reload another shell.
