Which one is less exspensive... Carpet, laminating flooring, ceramic flooring, or putting down plywood sheets down and putting vynle on it??????? The reason why I'm asking is because when I bought the home it had carpet but between the 2 dogs and 3 kids it got augly. So I lefted the carpet one day in a small area to see what was underneath it. I saw solid wood and I loved it so we agreed to remove the carpeting int our home then we ended up finding some areas of our home to be covered wl old vynle. Determine to have wood flooring my husband and I removed sq. by sq. and used an adhesive remover during this time I noticed it was drying up on us and cracking and lifting . So..... I was going to go with laminating flooring but we dont know how to do it.. I told my husband that we could do what the previous owners did to the kitchen and laundry rm they laid plywood down and added vynel over it what do u think will that be cheaper then laminating floors? Thanks for your help.

laminate flooring would probably be the best choice. Its very simple to install. Floating designs dont even need to be attached to the floor. You just snap the pieces together and it "floats". Very easy. Plus it would probably add the most resale value as compared to cost of material.

I would have to say ceramic flooring because, I have rented for over ten years from several people and I find that the ceramic flooring is better to maintain. It might be more expensive to you now, but you will save more in the long run. Besides, I've had vinyl flooring and it wasn't good because, if you move furniture around, it'll tear the floor and the same goes for laminating floors. Carpet simply gets stained and holds a terrible odor and you have to spend more money getting it cleaned. So I say go with the ceramic and just keep it clean with a wet mop or towel. Throw some rugs around to walk on and it'll last pretty much a lifetime.

Carpet is probably the least expensive, but it must be replaced periodically. If you're planning to stay in the same house, pre-finished wood flooring, or a laminate would be a nice way to go.

Same problem here 10 years ago. my house had a rug, hated it, hard to keep clean. the original floor was underneath, not worth all the aggrevation of scrapping, sanding etc., we put down 1/4 inch plywood and put vynl flooring. easy to keep clean and my floor is not squeaky from original floor.
hope this helps!
