I was told my puppy was a full breed American staffordshire terrier puppy, by the guy who gave me the dog. Know he is giving me the run around with the papers. Frist, he said he sent the papers in, then, he said he didn't get them in on time. I told him he wont get the money untill I see real papers for her. What should I do? What web site can I go to? I need to know if she is a real pitbull or not!!

Why is it so important to you that the puppy is " full breed". The term you are using is incorrect. The proper term as stated previously is " purebred". If you are unaware of this, you may not be worthy of the breed in question. I am a recognized breeder of Am Staffs and believe me, it takes the right person to train and own this breed. By the information given, it would appear that you were duped. I might surmise that the puppy is indeed an Am Staff but it is possible that the litter in question was not a registered breeding. You may ask a vet to DNA test the puppy or just keep her as a pet. The only time registration is necessary is when you are planning to show, breed or brag.

If worse comes to worse, small claims court for you. They should have already had the registration on hand. Make an alimatumn for this person... papers or dog. If it is that important to you and you are getting the run around I would personally retun the animal and do my homework for a more reputable trainer

Also it is never too later to register unless the parents were not registered to begin with

Vet could probably give you an educated guess. I think you got taken advantage of by the guy that gave you the dog. My bet is he is a backyard breeder and there are no papers. Did you see the mother and father?
Tell him you want the papers or you will return the dog. See how that works.

By full of breed he means a purbred pup and I sugest keeping the money till you get the papers and if he admits that it's not a purbred and you want to keep her then come up with some kind of agreament like he gets half the money or somthing like that. Or you could just give the puppy back and look for a real pubred.

Both parents have to be registered. If they are purebreeds that where never registered you are out of luck. Thats not to say the dog isn't a great animal but the AKC has guidelines. Their web site should help you.

papers won't really help much as they are mailed in by the breeder and no one checks ...you pretty much have to wait til it grows up unless you saw the parents and can trust the breeder.
