If it's a man for the bride, he's called either the "Man of Honor" or the "Bride's Best Man"
If it's a woman for the groom, she's called either "Woman of Honor" or "Best Woman".

I am calling my man maid of honor my person of honor. He liked that the best and it gets the point across. I also have a matron of honor

I am planning on having a guy on my side of the wedding party and my fiance is going to have a girl on his side...I planned a wedding where the bride had a "Man of Honor" and the groom had a "Best Woman"...it was a lot of fun because the Man of Honor wore a vest and tie to match the bridesmaids dresses and the Best Woman wore a black dress (to match the tuxes) and a sash that matched the groomsmen's vests/ties. The couple was just fun all-together and the wedding was absolutely fantastic!!! Good luck!!!

You can call the man the "Man of Honor" and you call the woman the "Best Woman". I was going to have one of my best male friends br my man of honor, but he is staioned overseas and might not be able to get back home in time for my wedding. But its a lovely idea.

I saw this in a wedding announcement this past Sunday, the bride had a "man of honor"-I liked it...it was clearly defining what he was in the wedding and that he was a man....as far as best man-i would say best woman...keep in similar--I think it will cause less confusion. Good luck-I think its really cool what you are doing, congrats!

well if its not a formal wedding, then you can call them anything you want. If its formal, than you go with the orignal traditonal names: Best man and Matron/Maid of honor
hope this helps!
