There have been tests that suggest it MIGHT cause problems in rats...but the amount they consume is huge, we probably wouldnt eat the comparable amount (weight for weight) in a life time! So you're OK :D

Splenda is an artificial sweetener that is relatively new on the consumer market. It is approximately 600 times sweeter than sugar, thus needing to use very little sweeten food and beverages. The common term for Splenda is sucralose.

Splenda is used in a variety of products from dessert mixes to syrups. It is also used as a direct sugar substitute, meaning you can use it in place of sugar in coffee and recipes that call for sugar.

The Food and Drug Administration has approved the use of sucralose, brand name Splenda, to be on the consumer market. This safety of the product is based on the review of over 110 studies involving animals and humans. The FDA looked for carcinogenic, reproductive and neurological effects of usage and found none.

The bottom line is that the FDA has found no cancer causing properties in the usage of Splenda.

The cancer stigma that surrounds artificial sweeteners is believed to stem from the 1970's when lab rats developed bladder during a saccharin trial. Although no case of cancer in a human has been reportedly linked to saccharin, the stigma still remains.

Splenda is naturally derived from sugar so it's not technically an "artifical" sweetner. It's basically carb free sugar.

Artificial sweetners are pretty much all carcinogenic. Saccharine, Phenylaine, etc. heh drink a diet soda lose weight but get cancer. Then again if you inject anything with 3 times it's body weight it'll get cancer.

Amazing, a world dream come to reality! Sugar something the world loves with NO absolutely NO calories! WOW! I nearly shrieked in joy when i first heard about it! There were fruit drinks and drinks made with the similar ingredients that millions drank and loved, thinking "Hey no cals. this is great!" Turns out these drinks were not all that good and shown on a news report that they are a substance with so much of one ingredient it was enough for like a whole town of people!
Natural god made is always better than the man made fake stuff. So next time you need to quench your thirst go for the real fruit juices with the calories instead of the fake no calories drinks.

no it does cause some health conditions and even death though. aspartame is similar. try to avoid drinking diet sodas, they mostly contain splenda or aspartame. if you want something sweet eat fruit or just eat sugar, its not going to heart you if you eat it sparingly. if you really must eat something sweet that isn't sugar or fruit try this alternative sweetener: its called stevia and you can find it at health food stores. It is the only scientifically proven sweetener that doesn't cause health problems. use just a little in smoothies or something because it is very sweet. nothing can replace sugar so if you want something sugary sweet it something with sugar in it, but sparingly.
