Ahhh the memories. Does anyone remember the old Maxwell House commercials that showed the coffee perking up through the glass bubble on top? to answer
your question, I don't think many people know how to use them, if they even know they exist. One of the drawbacks is the coffee has to be drunk immediately, because there isn't a keep warm feature, and there isn't a timer for waking up to hot coffee

I don't know, especially because I make mine in a percolator and it always turns out great. But you have a point; I'm t only person I know who uses one.

My mother acually has 2. One for 12 cups and one for 5 cups. I love the taste. She uses those b/c she has hard water and every few months she'd have a regular "die" on her. Even though she cleaned it reguarly the wouldn't last long b/c of the water. The percalators work well b/c they don't cycle the water like the other kind.

they sounded great and smelled even better. i think due to our society wanting everything right away, manufacturers don't see them as a marketable item. this is sad nothing smells better in the cold mornings than coffee perking on the stove
