There is much significance. There are certain blessings associated with a person's lineage...for example and most notably the seed of Abraham. Because of Abraham's righteousness he has been blessed in many ways...for himself and his posterity...In one significant way is that the rights of the Priesthood and Priesthood Leadership line of Authority came through him and his seed (Through Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob)...the covenant which God made with Abraham has been renewed through them. (I could elaborate more if you want...let me know) but I just mainly wanted to point out that it is a very significant relationship.
