hi im a medical student...
the flu shot that is given in the U.S. is an attenuated virus mixed viral antigens. So it cant "make" you sick. What your eperiencing is probably your immune system preparing to fight a viral infection or 'gearing up' as if it were exposed to the live viral antigens....

The shot can make you feel a little yucky for a day or two but does not give you the flu.

The vaccine contains inactived flu virus, so it is impossible to catch the flu virus from the vaccine. However, the inactivated virus is still in your system, so it is possible to get flu like symptoms from the virus which will go away. They should have warned you of this potential side effect as its relatively common.

you get what is called a dead load of the virus.
it can cause symptoms, but not the actual thing.
I hate getting those, because you feel like crap for days, and you wonder if its worth it, because you may never get the flu!!
But it is worth it, the flu is worse.
But yes, it did make you not "sick"but you have symptoms.
Hope you feel Better :)
