I guess not only new car models can be buggy, but also the plant itself:

In addition to the significant renovation last year, this year the plant started producing 3 different models on the same assembly line, something it has never done before (Caliber, Compass, Patriot). As to the consipiracy theory (previous post), well the demand was high when the plant was running at full steam, so Chrysler and the dealers would probably have made more money without the glitch.

the robot welders at the belvidere assembly plant went on the fritz. consequently production is off about 25%. that is the "official" story anyway. every time a new model is released, it seems to always have production setbacks. i think it is to drive the cost up. but then, i am somewhat of a conspiracy theorist.
i should have cited a specific case...the pt cruiser.
people were willing to pay 3-5k over sticker because of high demand and insufficient numbers
i believe the new mustang had similar situations also.
