I am a very good student, I have never gotten lower than a 90 on my report card..... until now. Our teacher told us our grades in English....... I got a 77. Because I forgot 1 assignment. I told my mom and she flipped at me. She is going to talk to my teacher.
Is there anything I can say to stop her?
Or anything to say to make my punishment less?

Its too late for extra credit, and it wasn't a big assignment. It was just a normal homework. The problem was that there was only 7 grades for the class. And one of them was the 0.

BTW: I did the assignment, my teacher kept saying that it was due on friday, so I didn't print it out yet. When Thursday came he collected it.

My teacher doesn't take late work, even if its the next day, or you forgot to print it.

I'm an English teacher.... the same thing (sort of) is going on in my class right now. I have students with 30s and 40s who have 2 or 3 missing homework grades. That happens at the beginning of the term before many grades go in. Your grade should come up if you do well on your future assignments. Here is something else to think about..... if you only have 7 grades in the class, period, I would have my mom talk to the principal. At my school we are required to base a final grade on no fewer than 10 grades per grading term. Seven is just too few. Why do you mind your mom talking to the teacher? If you just missed that one assignment it may help for her to go. Good Luck!!

I can understand where you're coming from. All your teacher is going to say to your mom is that you forgot the assignment and not a whole lot can be done. Try to talk to your teacher and ask if there is anyway you can make up the assignment. Sometimes a teacher can be nice and let you make up the assignment but may sometimes add on to it. If not then ask if there is any opportunities coming up that can get you extra credit. Take advantage of them if there is any.

It's not the teacher's responsibility to remember your assignment for you. I'm not sure why your mom is going to talk to your teacher; if it's to try to make your teacher give you a higher grade, then explain to your mother that you would prefer to accept the consequences of your actions. Assuming responsibility for your mistakes impresses adults, and shows them that you are mature. That should make your punishment less.

tell her that missing one assignment shouldn't drop your grade 2 letter grades. if it does than it discounts all the hard work you did up to that point. think of the opposite argument. does your teacher want to promote laziness in students so that when this one big assignment comes up, they can put in all their efforts and get a freakin A after doing crap up until that point? seriously, the teacher is dumb if she continues to grade her students accordingly. tell her it's unreasonable and not indicative of how students perform overall in the class. i have to say, a lot of teachers or those going to school to become a teacher are quite incompetent.

Try to distract your mom so she will have time to calm down. Ask the teacher for extra credit. It must have been a huge assignment to drop your grade that much!!!!!!
