Yes, it was a difficult time. We dealt with the situation as best we could. One day at a time. Today we are better but still miss our deal family members.

sorry for your loss. People are not asking to be rude. It is a natural response when someone hears about some horrific news. I cannot say that I know how you feel, because I don't. I do understand how difficult it is to lose people you love very close together. I lost my very best 1st cousin (she was like my sister) and two weeks later, my father died and six months after that my sister died. Time makes it easier to deal with losses. If you are still having difficulty going through the grieving process, a grief goup might help.

yeah some don't know what the consequences of their words are for the recipient... after the deaths of both of my parents , a distant cousin called me "one of those orphans" at my aunts funeral...she just did not think that would have an effect on me...I guess all those distant relatives on that side call us the "orphans"...and it is true but it sums up the reality of the situation and is harsh...I just was gracious like my mom taught me and acknowledged her then excused myself and drove home in tears. just rise above.

it's human nature to ask these questions. they are seeking reassurance that they will be able to handle a situation like this, should it occur in their family. sort of a fear driven questioning
