Love, understanding, compromise and both partners giving more than they take. According to my parents who were married for 36 years you have those, you will have a long and happy relationship. If not, it will eventually meets its doom.

Relationships are complicated. Making them last is a toughie, but it's worth it. I don't believe there is a special, hidden secret but there could be. The best way of learning is EXPERIENCE.
1. Honesty - it is extremely important to be honest with your partner because it takes part in communication and being able to trust each other. It's not as easy as it seems, but being unhonest is one of the big reasons why couples divorce/break up.
2. Communication - Not like chatterbox talking. Communication includes everything - from saying good night before you sleep or expressing your feelings. This is another biggie that helps keep your relationship healthy. When someone doesn't communicate with you, it seems as if they were hiding something, maybe having an affair with someone else. Talking to each other will definitely bring people together.
And of course, love. But that of course is obvious to all. :)

Compromise. You both have to be willing to do things for the other and being reasonable. If you only care about how you feel then the relationship wont last because your partner will not be getting what they need.

thier is no secrate to making a relationship last .. . to make a relationship last try not to fight sit down and talk about the problem together and make sure u guys really understand eachother cause if you guys understand eachother and talk through your problems a relationship can last for awhile

Allow the other person to have their own feelings and opinions. It isn't a matter of giving 50% but 100% or yourself all the time.
And it's ok to have a life of your own.
