Is their a test at the vet to tell?
We've not had her fixed because we DO want her to have babies first then we'll get her fixed. She goes outside a few hours each day for months now and still hasn't turned up pregnant.

We are planning to keep all the kittens in the family.
She is 9 months old.
She has gone thru what seemed like heat, all except the howling. I hear their are a rare few that don't howl and I figured she was one.
It is possible their are no tomcats in the area who haven't been fixed. I hadn't thought of that.

The vet will be able to check for any reasons that she may not come into heat or that she may not carry a litter, but if you are just breeding her because you heard it will make her into a better pet, that is FALSE! it actually has no change to their personality and if it is just to show the kids in your family about the miracle of life, don't forget that cats can have problems during birthing and if you are willing to spend about $800-1300 to have a c-section done, then go ahead and find and nice male for her and try to breed her. If you are just letting her out to breed, she may breed with a male that is carrying a sexually transmitted disease. then you have a cat who is sick, and possibly babies who are sick. This can get expensive in a hurry! Talk to your local vet clinic, they probably can get you a video on the miracle of kitten birth or puppy birth. there are far too many strays in the pounds and SPCAs to just let a cat get pregnant

Well, first, how old is she? They don't go in heat till they're six months old or so. Is she in heat? Yowling, waving her rear in the air, rolling around on her back? If not, she won't get pregnant until she is. They have to go into heat, then the tomcats come from all over, and then you have kittens. If she's gone into heat, and been out with the boys, and still no kittens, you may have the 1 in a million that isn't able to have kittens. I had a beautiful calico longhair that was 4 years old when I lost her, and she never was fixed or had kittens either, and had to live outside, which I hate, because she simply wouldn't learn about the litter box. She preferred the couch! (yuk)

Well first off if you really sincerely do want your cat pregnant, you should bring her to the vet in the first place to get her a well rounded checkup to make sure she is in good health to become pregnant. When your there you can mention the infertile test.
Another hting you have to take into consideration, cat sex is very....complicated, and painful for the female. She has to actually find and accept the right male, and sometimes it takes a while. Maybe there aren't many un spayed males in your area. Be careful though, don't want her getting eaten by coyotes. Maybe find someone with a male that is willing to breed with her.
Also remember, femals go through their "in heat" times so maybe she isn't in the mood, so to speak. Good luck and give those kitties great homes!

WHY would you want her to have kittens? If you're letting her outside to find her "man", obviously the kittens wont be purebreds or anything. WHY contribute MORE homeless kittens to this world? If you want kittens, FOSTER for a local shelter or rescue. Even city shelters like having foster homes. You get to have cute furry little kitties around WITHOUT contributing to the problem and without having to find homes for them. PLEASE! Go get your cat fixed. MILLIONS are euthanized each year as it is. Don't add to the problem! FOSTER!!!!

She probably hasn't come into heat yet--you'll know when she does, what with all the yowling and excessive affection....
