I am asian, and I have acne (or actually... a few 'remains' of acne) but my skin continues to break out. Most of this is genetic, but are there any good home remedies to make zits 'disappear'? I've heard of lemon juice... But my skin is kind of sensitive so I'm not sure how it will work.

My mom has suggested and she is wanting to buy Proactiv for me but she's hasn't gotten to it... but almost a year. I'm not allowed to go shopping by myself yet, so what inexpensive home remedies are there?

Thanks ^_^

With my experience with Proactiv, I wouldn't recommend buying it. It didn't do anything for me, and I used it exactly as directed. Test out some over the counter face washes. They sell make-up that covers and treats acne at the same time. Be careful with make-up because it only makes the situation worse.

OMG i was in the same situation as u just a few years ago.

im asian, have oily skin, and acne-prone skin.

my skin is currently improving (only one or two pimples on my cheek) but it used to be soo bad.

i got acne in 7th grade and my mom didn't really do anything about it and i didn't really ask. my doctor noticed the pimples on my forehead so she made my mom buy clearasil for me at target. that didn't even work for me at all. so then my mom bought me acnefree one day from costco but that didn't work very well. she got proactive for me when my acne got worse in high school (after i showed her the little ads and told her how popular it is so it can be trusted. and i explained to her about it so she gave in and bought it for me). after a while THAT stopped working for me so everytime we'd go shopping at target or walmart or a drugstore, i would just buy my own products that i noe would work on my skin.

browse around the internet for good products. browse around stores when ur family goes shopping (ur family must go shopping together right?). and go on eopinions, drugstore.com, or acne.org to see the reviews of products that would work on ur skin.

toothpaste on zits is a myth. use products that are made especially for ur face.

and if ur mom wont do anything about ur acne like my mom did, go to the doctor for ur yearly check up and ask her about wat to do about ur acne. that would surely get ur mom to see how serious ur skin condition is.

read magazines to see recommendations of products. seventeen, teen vogue, and cosmo girl has the best advices for clear skin!

oh, and its weird cuz there are only 3 people that i noe who are related to me who has (or had) acne. me, and my two cousins... so i dont noe if it is genetic or not. my parents never had acne before. they have like perfect skin. and my sisters' too. i take realllyyyy good care of my skin and keep it clean and healthy yet i still break out.

i have no idea why i get acne.

i hope this helps! and good luck! email me and ill list the products i use that has helped my skin a lot (they are all affordable and can be found in drugstores, target, and walmart!). :]

just using plain soap often works wonders. also if you have zits-not scars-scalding hot water works. it doesn't hurt if you aim for the zit-it will pop it without scarring, and it will be gone within 24 hours!
