since this is your 1st, trust me, get something tough. you're going to back into things, run over things, etc. not talking shlt, just the facts. i suggest a truck w/ extended cab. main things to look at are;
the brakes, they are the equivalent to the 'oh shlt' button on games.
the 1st 3 gears, can it go from 0-30 in 4 seconds without the RPMs going over 4500.
visibility, as an inexperienced driver theres things you dont know yet that can only be learned the hard way.
durability, youre gonna hit stuff & stuff is gonna hit you, like it or not.
now, hotrodding & risktaking, paying for gas & repairs will slow you down if you live that long. good luck to you & congradualtions.

Go with a Honda. I've worked with Hondas since 1984. You can't imagine how many parents buy these cars or pass them down to their children. Reason being, they are so dependable, and have a relatively low cost to operate. Just have a technician check it out before you buy it, usually a shop will charge about $100 to check out the vehicle for you and give you a report on what it needs. The seller shouldn't have a problem with this if he/she doesn't have anything to hide.

I know people that could buy their dream car for under 15,000, no normal parent would spend this much on a kids first car, try finding one for 1,500 dollars like I had to for my first car, oh, did I mention it was my money? What a joke for a question.

It's not glamorous, but the Toyota Corolla is solidly built, gets great gas mileage, and will go forever. It's also pretty comfortable in both the front and rear seats, is relatively safe to drive, handles snow and rain well, and has a decently sized trunk. The more recent models are pretty zippy too, for the size of the engine.
You can get one new for well under $15k, so you'll have a warranty too.

I was gonna say Corolla or Altima are both solid. SUV's are heavier and will consume more gas. also the repairs are usually more expensive - tires ?? insurance varies per vehicle as well...

as much as now as i understand, whoever "hits" has the criminal duty or is "at fault". In different words, insurance companies and regulation enforcements attitude is, "in case you're following all of the guidelines of the line and secure practices, there is by no ability any reason to hit something." Now, if there grew to become into ice on the line, that should atleast make issues lean extra on your prefer, yet i think of you're able to have a image taken that day of the stretch of street you slid on. it particularly is why they say you're able to continuously have atleast a disposable digital camera on your automobile to take a image of an twist of destiny and twist of destiny scene on the day of the twist of destiny, alongside with a cellular telephone, your insurance techniques, driving force's license and registration. with a bit of luck you have automobile insurance that could pay even whether it is your fault, or if no longer, a great form of acquaintances and kinfolk which will help you in this time of disaster. there's a great form of alternative aspects to evaluate: grew to become into the two of the drivers using jointly as impaired, or in a hurry, did the two go away the scene of the twist of destiny in the previous regulation enforecement arrived, what form of autos have been in touch, did the two have automobile insurance-dl license-registration-and so on... So with a bit of luck, consistent with threat there is different aspects that are on your prefer right here. In the two case, that's a be-careful call to continuously stress adequately and defensively and save as plenty area between you and different shifting autos or gadgets as obtainable, have a seat belt on, and have no distractions like listening to the radio, eating, eating, talking on a cellular telephone, and so on... i understand all this by way of fact i've got been using for years now, and characteristic purely been in some injuries. In each twist of destiny different than one, somebody hit me and for some reason none of them even had a driving force's license!!!! in the twist of destiny the place I hit somebody, I rear ended somebody, in simple terms such as you probably did. So on account that I "hit", it grew to become into my fault, even although the automobile in front of me stopped short and actual speedy, no longer giving me any time to end. the only component that saved me grew to become into that the automobile I hit left the scene of the twist of destiny, and, from what I comprehend, it grew to become into some form of insurance rip-off on the area of the different driving force.
