Yes - for the residents, not the staff!

It's usually ok for a person to have a drink or two, unless they have a history of alcoholism, and depending on what meds they're on.

It's quite common for residents to have a glass of Guinness or a drink of punch sometimes. As long as there's no health or safety risk, there's no problem.

I liver in Ct. I know of several cases where it's common practice for a patience is allowed a drink or two. A glass of wine, a cocktail or even a beer at bed time. Alcohol abuse is not allowed. Remember they are care center not jail centers. If someone has lived to a ripe-old age and has been having a drink or two before bed time for years- I see nothing wrong with changing ones habits. So if you have a love one in such a place talk to management and do what you've got to do. And if they say no: be creative.........

I work in mental health in South Australia, here it is against all company policy to have any alcohol on the premises of people in our support facilities, under any circumstance.

there would be no law againstr it as parliament wouldnt bother making one like that - so if it wasnt allowed, it would be because the rul;es of the home dictate it.

Personally I think if youre an adult of any disability or incapacity, than its bloody up to you if you have a drink or not.

ummm depends on the homes policy, in the one my grandfather is in, the family is allowed to bring wine and beer for their family member if that family member is allowed alcohol. (some aren't for medical reasons). other care homes don't allow it!

If they gave a drink to people in care homes for every time you have asked this there would be a lot of drunken people in care.
