I got a liquid from the pet shop that you add to the food which curbs the shedding and conditions the coat. Its called vitapet moult formula coat conditioner.

You cannot stop this it is what nature intended for dogs. I would not use any `artificial` aids to stop moulting, even if they were available, it will harm the dog to stop something which is a natural process. Brushing is the best idea, it gets rid of the loose hair and makes the dog feel more comfortable. ( Don`t you feel better when you have combed your hair?) Again I would not bath the dog too often, three or four times a year is the maximum, if it is done more often, you wash out all the oils in the dogs coat. These are essential to the dog, they stop the cold and the heat from penetrating the skin of the body, they maintain the coat and keep the dog healthy.I bath my rottweiler officially three times a year, unfortunately she is very partial to rolling in cow poo, so she has loads of mini-baths when I just shampoo the affected bits! I would love to see a picture of your dog, I can`t imagine what a St. Bernard cross Rottie would look like. Good Luck!

you cannot stop a dog doing what is perfectly normal and natural. If your dog lives indoors and you have your heating on, he will shed. Carry on vaccuuming twice a day and then start grooming him twice a day with the appropriate tools. I cannot tell you what would be the best to use on him as I have no idea what his coat is like. You would use a rubber toothed hound glove on a rottie and a slicker and comb on a St Bernard.

sorry to say this but you dont stop dogs shedding.st bernards are heavy moulters and rotties black hairs also shed loads.maybe you should of looked into getting a non moulting dog before you got your dog,for now you will just have to keep on hoovering twice a day

brush him every day. Try to get a deshedding brush that removes the undercoat. St. Bernard's have a lot of hair.

know the feeling but all you can do realy is brush him every day to remove the loose hair
also with the winter approaching he shouldnt shed so much hair as he will need a thicker coat to keep him warm

I feel your pain, I have a Pomeranian and a long haired cat. Just keep running that hoover and brush, brush, brush.
Good Luck

You have to brush him, and wash him often. But, if he is shedding a chunk of hair and getting bald patches, then that is a sign of skin disease, so take him to a vet.
