we were together for a while 5 years ago and he does it every time he sees me!
But he is very hot n cold!
He is more down each time he comes round and he worries me more and more.
This time he was a total wreck and he has really got me worked up and worried.
My friends all say forget him and turn him away the next time he comes, but I'm so worried by him.
Is that why he comes cos he knows I'll worry about him?

No he wasn't on a promise!
And he doesn't drive - no licence!

Five miles is a long way, so I guess I would wonder what his intentions were for walking that far.

Its kinda sweet, but a little scary! I mean, five miles is a LOOOOONG way! But in the same instance, my (now ex) b/f used to live 2 1/2 miles away, and I used to walk to visit him, as we both lived in the country, and neither of us had a car at the time. So maybe I can't talk, eh? Maybe he's just really into you, or, and I don't mean this horribly, maybe he had nothing better to do? (Do you know what I mean? Like maybe he didn't have anything to do for the day...thought it might be nice to see you.) On the whole, I think its sweet.

a compliment ~ i had a guy cycle 9 miles to deliver a box of chocolates to me for valentines day when i was 15 - i was amazed because i had no idea he had any feelings for me - the chocolates were gorgeous but we remained friends rather than taking things further - he accepted that fine~x~

a lad once pushbiked 17 miles to visit me, i was single, he fancied me, i wasn't interested in any relationship at the time and i did tell him that beforehand! i thought that was a little creepy as he knew how i felt but still biked to see me
so it depends on the situation, are you single, have you feelings for one another, or is he someone who may be stalking you lol.

i'd think he was a nutter and i would never date a guy that doesn't drive...it's going nowhere...part of being a grown up is behaving responsibly and taking care of yourself..this guy sounds a bit backward..he may be cute but he's an idiot

Possibly all of those things. Personally, I'd lean towards obsessive/scary. I mean, unless someone REALLY HAD TO, who walks 5 miles just to see someone?

5 miles? Walking? In this day and age of taxis, buses, and trains?
Where are you guys living at? Some third world country where they don't even have automobiles?

I think he should drive, or at least take the bus.
Is he a couple briquettes short of a BBQ ?

I'd walk five miles, it's not far if you're use to it.
Perhaps he doesn't have a bicycle or a car.

if you dont know him very well, even if he seems nice, he will probably just want to get laid or have bad/creepy intentions. but if you know him really well i could be seen as romantic
