All the reasons my ex gave me for breaking up with me didn't exist, they all came from miscommunications and we both know that but he hasn't asked me back out. i'm not sure what i should do.

The BS reasons he gave you were simply BS!! He was using that as an excuse because he doesnt want to tell you his real reasons for breaking up. If he hasnt asked you back out... F* him and move on. Dont waste anymore time on this kid.

Sometimes just the fact that there was that much miscommunication is enough reason. If you dont/cant get along then whats the point.
