Wow!! some answers were really out there. You really can't believe the things people say about us, they are so misinformed.
And I have never encountered anything that bizarre, I do think some people are letting their imaginations run wild. But really there is no need to equate disinterest with rudeness, I have many times encountered people that were too nice and afraid to tell me they were not interested, one girl even acquiesced to a bible discussion. We prefer you to be honest, exercise your free will, so next week just be upfront. Trust me, we really appreciate that.

I have had quite a lot of experience with the witnesses, via work, at my door, etc. over the years. So I can tell you first hand that you are being inundated with the most ridiculous lies. The witnesses will be more than happy to explain their stand on blood. And atheism; I was somewhat of one, that never stopped them from talking to me. They are not biased! However they never push their beliefs on anyone. IF you are interested they will gladly explain from the BIBLE what they believe. I think if you want to know about any religion, this is probably not the best format to do so. You are getting mobbed with here say, and people's imagination. And such nasty haters!!! You are actually proving the witnesses to be the most christian.

That's happened to me a few times. I just received the leaflets every time, although I was not interested in joining them. They don't' force you or anything, and it's not bad to learn how different people think differently. So I read the leaflets. I am still not interested in joining them, but I would jut let them leave the leaf lets, as they are just doing what they have to do, and that's not causing any harm to me.

I am shocked to find how many df'd or JW's are on this website.
Having said that, They are just trying to do what they believe to be the will of GOD and are acting out of faith. Allot of times, they don't come back. It would've have been different if you were to ask them something intriguing like, why do you not celebrate Christmas or I don't understand your religion. But If you are really not willing to learn about them in anyway, the best thing to do is to say, I am very sorry to have to tell you this but I am truly not interested. If they persist in anyway, you must be firm in saying very politely that " what you are doing in your life has nothing to do with religion in anyway, and you would like to keep it that way." Even if you are religious its not good to get in to it with them, like someone else said they are very good about proving other religions wrong. And frankly anyone can tell that religion as a whole has gone in the can. We are imperfect humans. Religion today is as abstract as newspapers, there is a ton of them, but really how can you truly believe the source. believe in God, if you need a religion to do that, go right ahead, but know that to each his own will make his account to GOD individually. you won't be "saved" just because you are in a religion.

If you really don't want to discuss with them, just tell them right out - it can be done politely. If they insist, you can be firm. If they insist more, you can politely and firmly say that they are harassing you and it is illegal. However, it should not come to that. Jehovah's witnesses today are not those of 30 years ago who used to put their foot in the door. They will usually take a "no" the way you mean it.
Setting your own boundaries is not rude.

Why don't you try and read what they left you, with any questions you will have, ask them next week. They will be more than happy to answer them the next time they call on you.
You will for sure have a question or two.
Try it just this once, you will be happy that you did.
One thing, don't say your not interested, I'm sure you are an interesting person.
Many respond, I'm not interested Your intellect is much better than that to respond, I'm not interested.
Telling them you are a devout Cahtolic doesn't hinder their thinking. They understand and respect that others have their own religion however, we all face the same problems and they will direct you the a Bible passage that will give an answer to the problems we all face in todays society.

First of all ignore what ChooseReality had to say completely misinformed and spouting nonsense.
You could as many have suggested bin the literature ignore/tell them your not interested, or you could read it with open mind, ask sensible questions reason it over with your own bible and when they come back have a intellectual conversation with them, get some answers as i am sure that it will cause you to have some questions at least. and then if at the end you really have no interest say no thanks please don't call again.
Many many people only ever focus on the bad of JW's, although there is A LOT of good about them.

Put yourself in the position of an ancient Israeli, having a fellow Israeli coming to your door, telling you that all the different versions of Judaism may no longer be valid. They say they will be coming back. You believe that you are already one of God's people. This was taught to you by your mother, who was taught by her mother, and so on for hundreds of years.
Do you listen? If they offer to come back, do you invite them in? Your friends tell you that are a cult, started by someone who was executed by the government for his crimes as a hieratic. Do you listen to your friends? Do you hide if they come back? What to do? Everyone says these people are crazy and have been brainwashed.

Are you a Christian already?
The problem with most Christians today is that they fish for people who have already been caught in the net - other Christians. If your answer is yes to my above question then all you have to say is that you are a Christian, God bless you, and that they should spend their time evangelising to an unbeliever.
Jesus said Go into the world and preach the Gospel - to the unconverted.
There's no need to be rude. - What can their response be if you are a Christian. If they keep insisting then put your foot down and say No thanks!
Easy!

Read the leaflet. When they come back, if you're not interested, then just tell them. If you have any questions about what you've read or just want to know about what they believe and why, don't be afraid to ask.
