okay i need to get my splits in 4 1/2 weeks. does anyone know any tips that i can do at home to help me get them? i need to get all three, my middle, left, and right. personally, i don't want to have to sign up for some yoga class or something to help me get more flexible. i'm having the most trouble getting my middle one right now, but any tips for all three of them would be great! i'm a little flexible right now, but not much. anything would be great! remember 10 points for whoever gives me the best answer or whatever starts to work the most for me! thanks!

Lay on your back, with your butt pressed against a wall. Let your legs fall down as far as they can, you should feel tension. Sit in that "V" position for at least 10-15 minutes. Do that everyday for a 3 days. Then sit in the V and have a friend or family member gently press down on your legs (pushing them further to the ground). 1 - 2 weeks, and you'll be the best splitter that's ever split! :)

you could do the ones i do on my son for his karate. you'll need someone else to help you first find a doorway that you can go into a splits position and then have the other person pull you as if to pull you thru the doorway but keep your splits and stay on your bottom do this a couple of times till it hurts a bit then do it again next day. also you can lay flat on your back and have then grab on one foot while the other stays on the ground and pull up towards your head and keep your knees straight of course. hope that makes sense.

ok, i had the same problem. what i did was whenever i was studying or had extra time, i would sit in my splits and read my book or just sit there. if you keep doing that every day you get more and more flexible. when you get comfortable w/ getting further and further down on your own, ask someone to help you by pushing you down...but not to much. dont hurt yourself. just keep working at it and im sure you'll do fine! good luck!

very easy but u need a partner. results in one session. its called PNF (propioceptor neuromuscular facilitation!) and it involves stetching the limbs beyond their capabilities by 'tricking' the muscle relaxant by using external force and tensing the muscle.

for example for the back of the thigh (hamstring) lay on your back with one leg extended straight in the air (dont bend) and have someone push your leg back to its stretch limit. then tense your muscle for 6-10 secs and then relax it and get your partner o push it back further. you should instantly gain around an inch or two. repeat every day. TEN POINTS PLEASE!!!!!

make sure you warm up before you do your splits, so your muscles will be limber.
Always do them slowly, with good form, and push yourself a little farther each day.
Hold them for longer and longer each time, until you get them.

Take a warm shower before warming up, and work slowly and carefully so that you don't make a tendon angry at you.
The water will really help.
