Atlanta was a hotbed for segregation in the 50s and 60s and that spilled over into the 70s for many.
Today, Atlanta has come a great distance. There is such a wide variety of people that live in the city that it is not the kind of place a racist would want to live. Atlanta is considered one of the best places on the planet for an African American Entrepreneur due to the diverse and deep variety of business centered there.
My experience says that you will find some racist people where ever you go, but some places more than others.
There are no more racists in Atlanta than you would find in Boston or other cities. There are however many areas that are predominantly white or black and less areas that don't seem be one or the other.

hey i'm 19 yrs old, white, and i've lived in ATL all my life. We do have a higher per centage of blacks so i guess in actual numbers there are more racist people but probably not as a per centage. Atlanta is home to people from all over the world. And you can find so many cultures, not just blacks. So i would say come, see what you think. I don't have any problems with living here. Of course there are some racist people but no more than you would find anywhere else.
Good luck

Since you are white, are you concerned about racism in general or blacks racist against whites, vice versa?
I lived in Atlanta for 5 years (college +1). I didn't find it any more racist than the rural town in SC I'd left. I found it to be diverse and based on your interests offered services or entertainment to suit them that were pretty accessible.
I agree with the person that stated there are pockets but having lived in different coasts in rural, suburban and city areas, it is no different. Unfortunately in this country, there are those pockets everywhere.
You decide what you will/will not tolerate and live your life accordingly. Good luck!

Lived here 4 years now, there is no overt raceisim that I have encountered in the business community. There are plenty of community groups that are african-american centric but they are easily avoided. You'll see more people of color than you are ued to, but in most cases it's not a bad thing. There are plenty of opportunities to learn more about how other people live.

Most of Atlanta is Blacks, and yes they are for the most part all racist. I live just south of Atlanta. Let me just say, don't judge the rest of the state of Georgia from what you see in Atlanta.
