I am running out of options, my son cries to be held all the time, right now he has an ear infection so I do hold him more. But when he is feeling better what can I do to help entertain him?

For the ear infection now - place a warm towel on the effected ear it will greatly reduce the pain and speed drainage. To amuse him - get a bouncer or other motion activated toy-it will help him develop muscle and not need to be up in arms st much giving you a break. Good Luck!

stop holding him so much...I understand you are now because he has an ear infection which is fine. But after that you've got to stop holding him all of the time. Even if he cries. You're not teaching him to be content on his own by holding him all the time. He's only 7 months old so don't go extreme. Just don't pick him up at any sign on fussiness or crying. Give him time to figure out he's ok with himself.

"I would try taking him out for a walk in the stroller, but it's about 20 degrees and and the roads are all covered in ice and snow and will be for another month or so" So what? I live in Canada, I go for a walk with my five-month-old daughter every day. It's not good for _you_ to be trapped in the house... Get a sling or other soft carrier, strap baby on, do up some warm sweaters and coats (your own, I mean) over baby, and get out. A good carrier will get rid of a lot of the "super heavy after a few minutes" problems, I promise. Having baby up near your level rather than in a stroller, and strolling around like that, means a lot of interaction for your son with people you run into on the street and in shops. If you're in a suburb -- drive downtown or to a walkable neighbourhood. I looove the daily promenade, and so does my daughter.

if your son is crying for you, honestly its really a good thing. he is developing an attachment for you, which is grea as he grows up. However, to keep him entertained, try visual things and toys of colors that look like faces of shine in distinctive colors. this is what they will be most drawn to.
