The husband is a U.S. citizen, not a permament resident or legal alien. He was born in the U.S., his parents are american....

If they are married the child will be a US Citizen. Many countries will allow a child to have dual citizenship, but he/she will have to choose a country at 18.
My dad is American and my mom is a British citizen, but is a legal alien, and we are all US citizens. We had the option of dual citizenship, but didn't see the point to it. I always knew I wanted to live my life here in America. You will have to check the specifics for Germany, but I'm sure they're probably the same.

Any person born in USA is automatically a citizen, regardless if his/her parent are or are not. If this lady is married to a US. Citizen, she then also becomes a citizen. There is still a process of paperwork, and proving that the marriage is indeed a factual one, and not just a marriage to allow an alien of USA to become a citizen. The child is born a US. Citizen, but if they later decide to abandon their US citizenship, for Germany or any other country, it may be difficult later to retrieve their former citizenship of USA. They will have to wait in line just like any other potential US immigrant.

The child is a US citizen in the eyes of the law,,,, and we all have the right to choose where we would like our citizenship to be. That child and any person has the right to choose. The real question is what do the parents want for the child, and if the child wants something different at the age of 18,,, it will be that child's right to make that happen.

Is he a legal alien as in a citizen, or is he a permanenrt resident?
If he is a citizen, upon taking his American citizenship, he lost his german one, so the baby would just be American. If he is not a citizen, the child is eligible for dual, but must choose a citizenship by age 21.

If a US Citizen has a child the child has American citizenship. ANY child born in the US is a citizen (it says so in the constitution).

Well, because you are a legal immigrant, and your husband is a U.S. citizen, and your child was born here, that officially makes him a U.S. citizen. No argument can change that.

If the baby is born in the U.S. then it is an American citizen automatically.
If the baby is born outside the U.S. they are also U.S. citizens

Depends--
If they're born in the US or US territory etc. they're automatically a citizen
I think that even if they're born OUTSIDE the US, since the one of the parents is a citizen, they automatically citizens.
