I have been a manager for a long time now. The major mistake people make when calling in is giving to much info. That is what gets them in trouble. Just call in and say you are not feeling well. There is no need to go into any more detail than that. No need to try and sound sick. Do not sound uncertain and do not say you will try to make it in later. Trust me Keep is short and simple. There is nothing they can do about it but give you a point on whatever system they use to track absent employees and it almost impossible to get caught in a lie with a simple "I do not feel well"

Ohh.. Pink eye. Most people do not go to the doctor so you would not need an excuse or anything. Also, you could use it for up to a week off work if you really need a break!

Well .... there are no 'excuses' not to go to work - only reasons. You are clearly looking for a lie when you should use the truth.

Whatever the reason that you do not wish to go to work, use that in some form as your explanation. You should have a good reason for letting your workplace and colleagues down - if you are fortunate to have a job then you should do it! (I have no personal axe to grind here BTW!).

If you are fatigued and really need time off, then you can say that you felt really ill and just totally lacking in energy - that's not a crime and it happens to us all. If, however, you just want an excuse to go shopping or have time out with a friend, then it is cheating, and there is no excuse.

Good luck.

That you're sick or injured, that you have a doctors or dentist appointment, that someone in your family died or is very ill, that you have to go to court for some reason (i.e. Jury duty, or divorce, etc.. Don't pick something that involves you having committed a crime.)

You need to call in and say that you are having trouble with your eyes, and when your boss asks what is wrong tell them that you just can't see yourself coming in to work!

Or call in and say that your Gonasyphaherpalaids is acting up and you can't come in!

Don't go to work for two days and then tell your boss you died and then was miraculously resurrected. Hopefully he's a Christian.
