A friend of mine is a massage therapist and she said that putting cold compresses on your head and neck are great because they help constrict the blood vessels (and migraines are caused by swelled vessels in the head, so the cold helps them get back to their normal size). But she said in addition to the cold on your head/neck, to put your feet in hot water. She says that heat draws blood to it, so by having blood drawn to your feet, it pulls the blood away from your head, helping your migraine to go away sooner that just the cold packs alone.

I do all the above, take an Excedrin and lay down in a really cold, dark room (with a fan blowing). It's also very helpful in my case when I drink a big glass of orange juice with the Excedrin. I have low blood sugar, so the natural sugars in the orange juice help my body rejuvenate. It's worth a shot, right? Good luck! It took me years to figure out how to manage my migraines.

Have you actually been diagnosed with a migrane disorder or are you just having really bad headaches. With a migrane you are very photophobic, meaning that hide from the light & if you've been diagnosed then I assume that you've tried perscription meds. However, if you are having really bad headaches, you might need to stretch you neck muscles. Try holding onto the back of your neck, blocking it from moving too much then look toward you toes, trying to only move you head. When you feel a stretch hold for about 15 seconds the relax. Do this for a few minutes or until you stop feeling a stretch. This will stretch your occipital muscles and maybe help to relieve some tension in you neck.

I have suffered with migraines for years. Mine are hormonal. Nothing has ever helped. My neurologist said I suffered with the worst type. I first see funny colors, I go blind, have tingling feelings down my arms and have even forgotten where I was. All I could ever do was take a mussel relaxer and go to bed. Make sure the room is dark, quiet and stay away from odors. There were times my head hurt so bad I thought I was having a stroke. I also have high blood pressure so most of the migraine meds like Imatrex etc. were not available to me. Sometimes they can last for three days. Most of the time they will give you a warning I know mine did. I would start treating the headache before it got full blown. I heard coffee can help if you drink it early enough. Didn't work for me. Sorry you are going through this!!!!!!!! I know just how you feel. Luckily my headaches stopped at menopause.

I have had migrain problems for years. There is nothing relly out there that you cn buy that will totally relieve the pain. You need a prescription, and everyone handles medication differently. But in the meentime, try Tylenol for migrains. Eat a bit of something(some migrains can be triggered by certain foods chocolate, cheese and caffiene are some). But sometimes eating can help a migrain if you have an empty stomach. Then go into a nice quiet dark room, ly down and put a cool wet cloth over your forehead. I hope this will help. Good Luck

Imitrex works really well for me...and only takes about a minute for it to kick in. You'll have to get it from the doctor though. It's the only thing I've found that will knock out the sickness, the loss of vision and the numbness in my face and lack of motor skills (yeah, I get the nasty ones). For just the headache, I can get away with 3 or 4 extra-strength tylenol (you might want to talk to your doctor about that) and chug down something with a lot of caffiene. This is also weird (and I've never tried it) but you can sniff either cayenne or red pepper. You put some of the juice on like a cotton swab and put it up in your nose. It'll burn like crazy, but it won't hurt as bad as the headache from the migraine. I guess it releases endorphins which helps soothe the pain. THey also have some sort of blocker when you eat them that prevents migraines (I think).

Also, if you're looking for natural remedies rather than rx or otc drugs, try this site http://www.faqs.org/faqs/medicine/migraine/natural-cures/

It looks to have some pretty good info. I wish you the best!!

It depends on whether or not you have true, diagnosed migraines. If you do, these are the things that work (my migraines are always caused by tight back and neck muscles due to stress).....Do one or all of the following.....
Get a perscription for Imitrex and take it at the onset of the headache.
Take a hot shower, lie in a dark and quiet room.....try soft classical music and deep breathing.
HOt compress on the neck muscles followed by stretching the back and neck.
Take 2 Bayer Back pain pills AND 2 Ibuprofen pills (preferably with food or milk). This sometimes relieves the muscle tension causing the headache to subside.

I suppose it's good to know how to puke incase of accidently ingestion of chemicals in which case throwing up might be a good choice but if you do this you are aware there is a possibility you could die in under a month. also if you puke too much that peaice of skin that guides the food and air will rot away and then everytime you lean forwards the contents of your stoumache will just spill out without even trying.

You need to get your doctor to prescribe you something. What works for one person won't necessarily work for another, and it sounds like you've already tried the over-the-counter remedies.

Sorry to be so little help!

If you have ever heard of B.C. for migraines try that. Its basically a combo of a muscle relaxer and a pain reliver for head aches. B.C. is hard to find, but within 30 sec.; it disappears.
