This April G. is at it again. She does`nt know ANYTHING about APBT`s . There is no gameness in a Staffordshire and they are`nt used as a fighting dog. Spreading ignorance will be your only claim to fame on this site so you and your "pit" killing vet should take it somewhere else . PETA could use another idiot like you since you are from the same planet, Uranus .

Yes, I'd add too, why do you have this dog at 3 weeks???? It should still be with its mother....

Secondly, this is a very mis-understood dog -- some are great pets, some are not. The problem is that the ones that end up as pets are ones the breeder doesn't think will make much of a fighting ring dog. Which again brings up the question why do you have this puppy so young? Did they fight its mother, and she was killed? There are big buckos, honey, really big buckos in fighting dogs, and there is no better a fighting dog than a pit. They were bred to fight -- that was the reason they were developed -- they're called Staffordshire terrier, but they are still pitbulls -- pit because they are bred to fight in a pit..... Hundreds of thousands of dollars are bet during one evening in any rural area of fighting dogs. And, communities are outlawing these dogs, just to get rid of the dogs as well as the people who fight them. The problem with them as pets is you never quite know what you have --- even as old as 5 or 6 years. Some will just snap for absolutely no reason, tearing off a kid's arm, or someone's face. Now a little dog will do that too, but the bite of a pit is the hardest of any dog --- any!!!!!

First off this breed is very misunderstood--ITS a great family pet when trained correctly and with the right owner--HOWEVER I don't feel this is a breed for a first time dog owner-Although you haven't said if you are or not you did say you know nothing about the breed--Therefore since you already have it FIRST things first DO some research on the breed and find a puppy class when she is old enough--Although she is TO young to be away from her mother I guess thats to late now--I would question who you got this puppy from and what they have the dogs for Esp when getting read of them when they are only 3 wks old Unless she is a rescue and for some reason had to be taken from the mother--Do some research online and talk to some local vets and trainers is my advise.. Good luck

I used to have a pitbull as well, also the biggest baby! The most important thing to remember with a pit bull is they need to know you are boss. I highly suggest obedience classes and crate training. They are great family pets, and completely misunderstood. For those out there who believe they are vicious attackers, take a look at this site, and see one of the reasons they are so misunderstood http://members.aol.com/radogz/find.html

Back to your question, you just need to be very patient with her, and make sure she knows you are in charge, in a loving way of course. Do you have her mom since she is only 3 wks old?

I used to have a pitbull, and he was the biggest baby! We rescued him from the shelter when he was a puppy. We didn't treat him any different than any other dog. We showed him unconditional love and companionship and he returned the favor. He really didn't think he was a dog, he slept in the bed with us and everything!

You know that it's getting illegal to have these dogs in Oz?they've attacked too many people and the government is outlawing ownership of them....-if it's three weeks old maybe make sure from now on that it is never mistreated, and never hungry..!! You don't want it to get a complex-also if you'vre got kids, let them play with it and drag it around and it'll soon feel it's secure and one of the family.

I love Pitts!! I have I red nose named Buddy and now a pup named Koda. Buddy is so sweet and a good guard dog...He looks scary but he is so friendly. It all depends on how much time you spend with your dog. Pitts have a bad rapp but it's not there faults its there owners. Pitts love attention!! As long as she is in a friendly environment you'll be fine. I mean it's all how you train her.
