well most guys i know don't like me as anything but a friend or not at all
are they just hiding their feelings or do they really think i'm a nerd?

Guys are a strange breed. The like woman who are confident, but yet go for the women who are meek and need to be taken care of.
I doubt that they really think you are a nerd. They probably just dont know how to look at you as anything other than a friend because you are self-reliant. Dont get me wrong.... dont become a wimpy woman.
Woman are like Apples..... the good ones are at the top.
Most men come along & grab the bottom ones because they are easy to reach. One day a guy will come along that is willing
to climb to the top of the tree and that is where he will find you.

either they are intimidated by you because they think a) you're too hot for them or b) to smart for them or c) they're just as nervous as you are. I think its probably C and I think your best bet is to initiate conversation, make them a little bit more comfortable and pretty soon they'll open up. its that first conversation that is always hardest. I don't know how old you are but during my teens I was shy and unsure around girls but as I've gotten older, I'm more confident. I honestly doubt anyone thinks you're a freak ;) keep your head up and smile, you've got nothing to be worried about.

next time a guy you're intested in tells you they only see you as a friend, you should ask him why that is. and also, don't worry about only being seen as a friend--a lot of close friendships develop into something more, even if neither person saw something they liked in the other person earlier in the friendship.
