We all have this life, and I've seen no proof of an afterlife. Why are so many obsessed with it?

Living a good life on earth is much more important. Of course, I'm a Wiccan, and I believe in reincarnation, not heaven.

I think you have to study a little more on the nature of the human being then you may understand there is an afterlife. If you just believe man is not more than a physical oragnism, then you would see no afterlife, only corruptibility. Yet, man's nature is more than physical and so is reality. If you cannot open your mind and heart to this prinicple unmoving philosophical and theological truth, then no once can convince you other wise. And so, you really have to ask your self, " Am I holding fast to what is true or am I being resistant to greater truths?"
May the Lord bless and keep you. May He let the light of His face shine upon you.

Both are absolutely important.
If you have no knowledge about death, you cannot live a good life.
If you don't live a good life, there would be no promising hope after death.
If you choose one of the two, you will become like a bird which tries to soar up with one wing.
It is very very difficult to realize the truth, therefore we must learn and learn, and learn until when some spiritual light shines upon our souls.

I think that for everyone who believes in something...it gives us hope. A reason to keep going. A reason to be happy. Even if there isnt a heaven or hell, afterlife or whatever, what harm is done by having a strong belief in something and leading a better life?

To me preparing for heaven (death) IS living a good life on earth! We prepare for death from the day we are born. The cycle of birth and death.

The second question you put is why are so many obsesses with an Afterlife. Who is obsessed? I have as much fascination of the Afterlife as I have of this life I am physically living right now. So I would not say I am obsessed about my life as my life involves working with the 'afterlife' as you call it. To me it is home, and this life is a short experience before I return after gathering the wisdoms and knowledge for my souls journey this time around. I will, too, dictate as soul, as to when I will return through birth to experience new soul choices for my evolution which is the Divine Sources path for me to choose to take or not. I choose to take it so I live it. Divine Source provides me with the light force loving energy to do so.

I have proof of an afterlife, however this proof is personal to me. The work I do with spirit is very real and very really helps many people regain their connection to God Within....our Divine Whole Source, our Creater of the Universe, if you will. Spirit is as alive as me or you. They are us, we are they. They just do not have this fleshy body anymore that encases the perceptions and judgements of our societies all over. Spirit is Human Spirit. You want to entertain Demon? be my guest.....moving along I work with Archangel Michael and Raphael amongst many others. I work with Star People and yes even those faery taled elementals are real too. Just ask my old non believing husband who is now my new believing husband. He showed me 300 odd of them at night in the dark and they glowed like fire flys. He asked me to pinch him several times as he watched them fascinated. He thanked me for showing him life is not just about US. Our world is so close to the 'afterlife' I can feel them right now reading what I am typing. In fact Ptah just laughed and said you are doing fine, just keep speaking your own truth. So in that I will.

Blessings be in peace and light

To live a good life on earth is to prepare for heaven...

Who's to say the two are mutually exclusive? By living a good life, maybe you do prepare for heaven... or maybe you make a heaven of this life.

live a good life on earth. Even in the bible it says dont worry about tomorow, I think this means also heaven. Live life to the fullest dont wait/prepare for heaven (death). Living a good life will prepare you for heaven, you dont need to focus on it.
My opinion.

Life is the great indulgence; death is the great abstinence.

I have faith in an afterlife, but it is more important to live for the moment. I live for life, not for death.

Why can't the two go hand in hand? Prepare for heaven and live a good life here, also? I don't understand your logic. Why do you think you can't do both?
