My mom swears that your ring size is the same as your shoe size... my shoe is an 8 and so is my ring finger. My fiance's shoe size is a 13 and so is his ring finger. It doesn't always work, but it is quite common too!

Most women wear a size 6 or 7 in a ring, but this can be quite variable, since some women have smaller or larger fingers. You can always have a ring re-sized if it's too big or too small.

I realize you want this to be a surprise, but you might have to be obvious if you want to get the exact size right the first time. Have her take a strip of paper and wrap it around her ring finger and tape the two ends together. Or have her take a ring that she already owns that fits her, and draw a circle INSIDE the circumference of the ring. She can then mail these to you and you can take them to a jeweler to get an exact fit. And if you really want to be bold and brazen, just ask her what size ring she wears. You can make up a story that you're taking a survey on women's ring sizes, but she'll most likely see through it.

It's a real hassle when your sweetie lives in another country, but she's going to know of your proposal eventually, so considering the circumstances, you may have to forego the surprise element. Good luck and congratulations!

Asking a friend or relative always works, or maybe say a friend at work was going to buy a ring for someone and had no clue on the size can she explain and get her to tell you that way

Tell her you found some nice gloves, but you want to give her the right size. If you are a little off, be too big. That way "she must have lost weight" since you last saw her. Plus that way it will fit onto her finger. Whatever you do, do not go too small.

Good Luck!

Just gradually get onto the topic of "How i once bought the wrong ring size, because i'm a [size]" and then ask her if its ever happened to her.

More subtly though, i think ^_^

Good luck mate though if you're proposing, enjoy your life with her!

You don't need to worry about that. Jewellers have rings in standard sizes, usually a 7, and it will be able to be sized up or down if needed.

Just ask her... My fiance bought my ring while he was in Japan and he just asked me to find out my ring size and asked what size t-shirt I would want and sandals....he tried to make it seem like he was just going shopping and wanted to be prepared to buy me something... I had no idea he was going to buy me an engagement ring

Does she live at home? Is there someone, maybe a sister that can get you one of her other rings? A jeweler can size it from that.

Good Luck.

one thing u can do is ask one of her realtives of friends wen shes not around, like call them up wen shes not home. or u can simply talk about a certain subject, then get into talknig baout hands, or something, then tell her u have small/big hands, and tell her her hands are so delicate, and say: wat siize ring do u wear, cuz ur hands look really small (or big!) hope that helped a little!
