Please because I was watching Hogan Knows best and he had to go out of his way to look for Kosher fod. He even entertained the idea of thaking regular food and claiming it Kosher. Could a person tell the difference if someone did that?

Certain foods are never kosher, such as pork, shellfish, etc. But other foods can be either kosher or not so the people who eat ONLY kosher foods probably would want to eat only where they can be certain that they'd be served foods they can eat.

Hope that helps!

kosher means a few things.
one thing is that milk and meat are not eaten or prepared together.
you might have different dishes even for them.
because the bible says something about not having milk of lamb with flesh. it is actually a spiritual discipline.
many spiritual paths have dietary discipline as part of it.
as far as meat, to be kosher it has to be supervised by a trained rabbi and the killing has to be done a certain way.
they don't just wave their hand. the ensure the killing is done
properly according to kosher law.
the rabbi only oversees adherence to the rules of kosher eating.
which have developed over time.
no shellfish are allowed. no pork is allowed.
it is a whole diet.
usually only orthodox jews actually practice kosher eating.
parve means it is not milk or meat but neutral so can be eaten with either kind of meal.

Kosher foods are those that meet certain criteria of Jewish law. Invalidating characteristics may range from the presence of a mixture of meat and milk, to the use of produce from Israel that has not been tithed properly, or even the use of cooking utensils which had previously been used for non-kosher food. For an in-depth discussion of this tradition, see kashrut.
