How did you chefs know that you wanted 2 be a chef for a living? (what made u know you wanted to cook food for a living, any experiences, or etc.)

The same reason anyone wants to hear a child laugh, the Joy. There's one other underlying element and that's the ability to see and taste something before you even produce it just by knowing what combinations will work and seeing the looks on the faces of the people that taste a new dish you invented for the first time...... aaaahhh The Joy

I have always loved to prepare food. My mother was a gourmet home cook. It was always around me growing up. I knew that cooking was going to be my profession at a very young age. I would not give it up for anything. One thing though, If you are looking into this as a career I must tell you that you have to make a huge sacrifice in life. No holidays, birthdays, weekends, etc. with your family. Think about it hard!!!

unlike the others i had no real drive towards being a chef.I just kind of fell into it when i was 18. started as a dishwasher then one day they were short handed on the line so they got me cooking fries and wings and crap like that. i started learning other stations picking up the theory from books as i went along(thank you Julia). eventualy i went to school and got my papers through an aprenticship program thankfully i woked for some great(in their oppinion anyway) chefs along the way and learned from everyone

Its not the money thats for sure. Its the only thing I do that makes me truly happy. Ive sat behind a desk, Ive been in sales, ive waited tables. Theres nothing more fulfilling to me than making great food, and theres no better outlet to express your creativity.....or take out your frustrations with a mallet and a piece of chicken for that matter. lol.

I'm not one for a living, but I did graduate from the Cordon Bleu in Paris............For me, I've just always had a passion for cooking.....and then I saw the movie "Like Water for Chocolate" and that sealed the deal.........In the movie, this woman is such a wonderful cook that everything she cooks is flawless...........

food was exciting and the prep and cooking was fun and creative, and I was always looking food new styles to cook, it never gets boring
