I am asking anyone who suffers depression, do you find it hard to trust anyone including family, suffer from greed or want trying to fill your life with money and material things, and still not happy?

Spending your money on material things may help for like 1/2 a second, but that is not the answer. If you know you are sad and depressed all the time, and nothing you did before excites you the way it did before. Then admitting it to yourself is the first step. The next step is to go to the doctor to get properly diagnosed. Trust me it is a sense of closure, and that my dear is always a good thing.

From there you have two options, if you are depressed depending on the severity you may need to see a psychologist every now and then for a while to talk to and figure out the core of your problem. Just one or two bad days doesn't make someone depressed. Depression usually comes from something in the past, divorced parents, yourself (depending on your age) or anything that can cause any sort of trauma later as you are older. At the same time you may also want to see a psychiatrist - they are the only ones that are qualified to prescribe medicine if necessary. And again, I do not reccomend medication for teenagers - 18+ yes. Anyway, it may sound crazy but it really is not. A lot of people are on anti-depressants, and this just means that your brain is unable to create it's own endorphines, and instead loses that chemical each day in turn making you sadder and sadder. The medication artificially gives you the endorphines you need so that in time your brain will learn to create its own.

* I want you to know, you are not alone, there are millions of people out there that are suffering from depression, and many of them go untreated which is not a good thing, in a sense it turns into a domino effect where they pass it on to their kids and/or leads to greater difficulties in life; which is why I do think it is important for people to step by step get help for themselves and continue on to living a better life, not a miserable one.*

-I hope that you can find the closure you need and get the help you need, so that you can live a better life as soon as you can.

:o)

Yes to all of the above. One thing you should understand is that it is not greed per se but trying to fill an empty place inside of you. All your symptoms indicate a long term depression. I hope you can find a trustworthy therapist to talk with. Your self worth is very low and that hurts you. things will make you high for a very short time however then back to wanting more to fill that void.
You please take care and try to seek help that will help you.

Depression used to be a problem with me (only for a few years). I can't say I was ever greedy, except when it came to food--I overate a lot, then rebounded it with an eating disorder. Material things didn't make me happy so I didn't really care for them.

As far as family, I could trust them, just not with my problems. I knew they either wouldn't care or wouldn't approach them right. I really just didn't want to be around anyone, except my closest friends. Didn't want to make new friends, either.

I didn't really want money, either. I was a yound teenager so my mom was supporting basic needs (food, rent) so I had no need for it. Kind of just sat around all day on the comp or watching TV so I didn't need to buy anything like tickets or new clothes.

But I'm all better now. ;-) Hope that helped.

Yes, to all of the above. But the good thing is that it usually only lasts a couple of days and then my moods improve for a while before sinking back into depression. The change of seasons, especially the Fall with the cool, cloudy days and early sunsets, can sometimes make it worse.

i wouldn't say i don't trust them, it's more like i don't think they understand so i don't discuss things with them. as far as the money spending, absolutely!!! it's like getting high but then you come down and feel guilty which makes you depressed again.
