You need to install some DVD codecs, and of course I'm assuming you're using a dvd drive first.. To learn mor eabout DVD playback on windows read this article:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/setup/expert/bridgman02april15.mspx
It will tell you everything you have to do to see dvd's on windows.. The alternative is to go here:
http://www.free-codecs.com/
and either install a popular codec pack, or a dvd codec... Just search for it.

You will need a DVD drive of some kind. Some new and older computers have only a CD / writer drives. Movies will Not play in these. If you plan on buying one, I suggest getting an external usb DVD/CD/writer, as it will play and record everything. I have an HP dvd740 and it works very well. Then if you upgrade your puter you can always take it with you. Cost less than $150.

You need a DVD drive. Right click on My Computer and left click on Properties. Go to the Hardware tab, click on the Device Manager button and click on the DVD/CD ROM. when it drops down, it will tell you the type of device you have. Let me know what you have and we'll take it from there.

Well...it depends. If your operating system is windows then you have to have some sort of video player installed. If its an old computer then it might not be able to perform such a job.If you have a program installed and its a modern day computer then put in the DVD then go to the start menu and click on my computer and select the movie and it should play. Please vote as best answer. Good luck! =)

yes u need a dvd rom drive, and some software to play back the dvd, like powerdvd etc.. if u look at the front drive tray it should say dvd-rom or dvdrw etc.. if it doesnt on either then u will need to replace 1 of your cd drives, i would suggest getting a dvdrw 16X writer.

Well, it has to be a DVD-ROM drive, not a CD-ROM drive.
