well veterens day is because WWI ended on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918. and a side not the marine corps was founded on 11/10/1775.

Veteran's Day happens on November 11 because it is the day the Marines started in 1776. It became a holiday after WWI to honor the veterans from that war, however, now it honors all men and women who have served in any branch of the miltary during war or peace.

Veterans Day was founded for the men from WW1. It has since been there to honor all men from all wars the US has been involved in.
