No, it only ruins them if they are olded or bent. Flat on the floor is fine :D

According to Braxton-Hicks associates it depends on the type of mattress and the type of boxspring. As well as the condition of the enviroment to place the boxspring. In general if it is good quality and there is a dry floor with low moisture it will be okay. If your floor gets damp sometimes or vermin are present better to elavate..But temporary will not matter acc. to Professor Dewey

You could have some problems with moisture/humidity down there but there is something else to consider also. During the winter months, the floor area tends to be drafty with the coldest air moving around down there. It could be bad for you healthwise to continue sleeping with the mattress on the floor.

Here's a better question. Does it ruin the floor to keep a mattress on it?

first off, if you are planning on getting rid of it, who cares. so long as you dont want to give it to a friend or relative. (well, most of them)
second, whats the difference if the bed is on a stand or the floor?
the floor is level, so it wont bend the frame. i dont see any other reason it would hurt the bed unless it is trampled on.
and if anything, the floor gives the box spring more support, because there is more surface area contacting the frame.

I have kept my mattress on the floor and it did not ruin it at the least. SO I think it would be fine.

I don't know who would have told you that being on the floor ruins the mattress no so. if anything, being in a frame would shorten the life of your box spring. go for it.

As long as the mattress is on the box spring, and it's not too long on the floor, that will be fine

It won't ruin it if you are only going to keep it on the floor for a short period of time.
