I have experienced and absolutely hate the following:
-people interrupting our conversation to take a call that ends up lasting like an hour
-people talking on their cell phone in stores, and holding up the line at the register because they aren't paying attention to the cashier as they are on the phone.
-moronic drivers causing accidents or near accidents because on the phone.
-I used to be a hairdresser, and when working on commission time=money and people would make me stop what I was doing to answer their phone
-My boss (a lawyer) provided his cell phone number to a client due to an emergent situation over a weekend, now that client phones on the cell at all hours and for any reason whatsoever.
-People calling your cell before your land line

What do you hate about cell phones?

I agree totally cluster...I also tend to think that people who need to be on the phone in the store, in the car, up the walk at work, etc...have severe problems with themselves as they seem unable to spend 10 minutes alone with themselves.

I actually loathe the concept that any person at any time can punch in 7 numbers and demand my undivided attention

My least favorite is at work. The rule is: no cell phones in patient care areas, but as soon as authority figures are out of sight the phones come out. We at work occasionally carry a cell, provided by the hospital, when there is a situation with a patient that requires us to be immediately available. The visitors automatically decide that it is my personal phone, and are mouthing off about it, when I am trying to hear how my patient is doing.
So here is an opportunity. People, more and more hospitals require patient care staff to carry a cell phone that is provided by the hospital, so that patients, doctors, other departments, and staff can be in immediate touch with the nurse. The hallways are long in a hospital, and often, the nurse is far away from the desk . It is for the patients safety that we do this. And you can tell when it is a hospital phone, they are usually clearly marked. Get used to it.
But, some people have set themselves up, out in the community, as the cell phone cops. If one rings, no matter where, they have something to say about it. I was outside, heading for an entrance into a shopping mall, I was on the sidewalk, and my cell phone rang. I never, ever, have it on, it is for emergencies, and for the convenience of a my friends, in certain situations. It was my friend, telling me she will be late, as I had already figured out, since she was not at our meeting place. Some people clear across the entrance, stopped, and had several things to say about it. They were louder, and caused more distraction then I did with my cell.People going in and out of the mall were ignoring them, or laughing at them. Thanks for asking this question.

I was in a shoe store today, and the woman next to me was trying on shoes and carrying on in-depth conversations with her friend and then her husband. I mean really, that's multi-tasking. That stuff is just kind of annoying.

What's dangerous is the people with the cell phones plastered up to their ears and driving around looking for a parking spot. Parents, hang onto your toddlers and kids in the parking lots.

Also, I have a friend that got a cell phone within the last year. She's addicted to it and if I so much as take a shower and not check my machine afterwards, she's reprimanding me bc I don't check my machine enough! Yeah if I'm not reachable within 2 hrs. she thinks it's "rude." Seriously, I don't need that monitoring by anyone and esp. to hear bull(bleep).

It depends on the person WITH the cell phone. Some people are kind and polite about it.. others like to show off as if they never had a phone before!

I do not believe that the phones are to blame! The crazy, inconsiderate people using them are the problem. I too am tired of the loud talking...like we all want to hear their conversations. The rudeness of taking a phone to church and leaving it on. To sit in a restaurant talking loudly on the phone instead of conversing with those dining with you. I am tired of people running through red-lights, crossing the center line, and being so distracted that they about run over everyone.

I hate everything you mentioned. It is very rude and I used to work retail and had to put up with that BS all the time. It's like they are in another world oblivious to the things they are doing like holding up lines and causing accidents. It's crazy. Whatever happened to common courtesy...I don't think it really exists too much anymore.

Its not the phones. its the ignorance of the people using them. They can be turned off after all! :D
What annoys me most is when Im on a bus and some idiot is having a conversation at the top of his voice and the rest of the bus have to put up with it.

Cell phones aren't the problem, the people using them are.
