like the other person said, it is possible especially if you have had alcoholic beverages, or if you are a deep sleeper, but also if you have had a long hard day at work or have worked for (let's say) 24 hours straight through. It is possible to drown in the tub, even in only enough water to cover the mouth and nose.

If the tub is big enough and deep enough yes you could drown. You might wake up but if you are a very deep sleeper you could drown. I always wake up in cold water as my tub isn't large enough for me to slip down in.

naturally you should wake up or at least move to get oxygen, but sometimes the brain doesn't react. Recently there was a small article in the week about babies not turning around in their sleep when a blanket or something was covering their face, ti is now considered a birth defect

I have fell asleep plenty of times in a royal bath with servant women bathing me,...its most relaxing to the Majesty!

In normal conditions you will wake up. In case you dont then there is some problem and needs consulation with a medical doctor.
