Something is important to me, or something matters to me, it would be "Me importa," and if the important object is plural, is changes to "Me importan..."

If you want to say like,

the book, money, and the future are important to me...

Would you use importan or importa? Altogether, they are plural, but each individual object is singular?

me importan. you are talking about more than one thing, so the verb is plural, most definitely.

you would say "El libro, dinero, y el futuro me importan." All together they become a group of thing, making the sentence plural.
