I grew up in Perth.. there are definitely mozzies around during summer so pack the repellant. More importantly - pack your board shorts, suncream and tank tops cause it gets real hot during January.

It gets so hot that the bitchumen and tar of the road goes soft underfoot when you walk on it.

Perth is the place to be during summer. The beaches rock!

We were in Sydney two years ago for Xmas until the middle of Jan and the average temp was 38 degress and we were told in was hotter in Perth. We didn't bother with mozzie spray and never got bitten but I suppose it depends where you are planning on going whilst there. We found we could not get any sun cream lower than a factor 30 as well.

Enjoy your trip x

Yes - Australia is the Fly Capital of the World believe me 'cos I know, I have had the misfortune to visit the fly ridden place! I was told the City had spent six million dollars on the problem - to no avail. It is even worse outside the City - I visited Collie,Bunbury and points south of Perth - the only way to escape the flies is to go under water!
The biggest laugh is being sprayed by the cabin staff before you land in Australia - they say it is neccesary in case you introduce any flies or bugs to the country. Strewth I'm cringing at the thought of being made to go back there, what a dump.
