ok...this took RESEARCH! Lots or people inquire about this...but it is hard to find. Here are 2 versions
Alligator Pie
1 unbaked grahm cracker pie crust
8 oz. Philadelphia cream cheese, softened
8 oz. sour cream
8 oz. Cool Whip
2 drops green food coloring
Mix cream chhese and sour cream together well., add foo coloring, fold in Cool Whip
Pour into pie crust and refrigerate at least 2 hrs.
Mystery Pecan Pie (or Alligator Pie if you add green food coloring to the cream cheese mixture)
Topping
3 eggs
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1tsp vanilla
Pie
8 oz pkg. Philadelphia cream cheese, room temp.
1/3 cup sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla
1 egg
1 unbaked deep dish ( 9 inch) pie crust
1 1/4 cup chopped pecans
preheat oven to 350
Combine all topping ingredients in a bowl...set aside
In med. bowl, combine 1st 5 pie ingredients well
Pour into pie crust
Top with pecans
Pour topping over Bake 45 min.
May add few drops green food coloring to pie filling mix for "alligator pie" Good Luck!

I don't know about the topping (pecan pie usually is just topped with pecans, if anything) but so-called alligator pie is nothing more than a soft cheesecake colored green. Mix 8 ounces each of cream cheese, sour cream and dairy topping (e.g., Cool Whip), add a few drops of green food coloring to reach the desired shade of green, place in a graham cracker crust and refrigerate.
