It could be one of two things:

A large piece of boneless chicken, usually grilled.

More likely it is a Chicken Fried Steak that you are referring to. It is a steak, usually a poor cut, that is battered and fried just like a piece of fried chicken. Typically served with mashed potatoes and milk gravy. You can find many sources for the recipe.

"Chicken fried" anything usually means a flour-and-egg batter over a certain type of meat. Chicken fried steak is so called because it's prepared the same way as southern fried chicken, usually with accompanying mashed potatoes and country gravy. So chicken fried chicken is usually a split boneless chicken breast battered in flour and egg, and fried flat, as opposed to just plain fried chicken, which is whole pieces of meat around bone. Whatever it's called, order it as often as you can! It's often my favorite thing on the menu, especially at places such as Applebee's (chicken fried chicken) and Cracker Barrel (chicken fried steak).

It is a piece of cubed beef steak batter dipped and fried just like chicken and usually served with awhite milk gravy. Look it up in a cookbook and fix it. It is really really really good so we don't have it often. Needs mounds of mashed potatos with the gravy too. If it is really really really good, then as you know, it is not that good for you. Someone fix the menu's in Canada please.

Chicken Fried Steak I

INGREDIENTS
1 pound boneless beef top loin
2 cups shortening
1 egg, beaten
1 cup buttermilk
salt and pepper to taste
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 quart milk
salt and pepper to taste
DIRECTIONS
Cut top loin crosswise into 4 (4 ounce) cutlets. Using a glancing motion, pound each cutlet thinly with a moistened mallet or the side of a cleaver.
In a large, heavy skillet, heat 1/2 inch shortening to 365 degrees F (185 degrees C).
While the shortening is heating, prepare cutlets. In a shallow bowl, beat together egg, buttermilk, salt and pepper. In another shallow dish, mix together garlic powder and 1cup flour. Dip cutlets in flour, turning to evenly coat both sides. Dip in egg mixture, coating both sides, then in flour mixture once again.
Place cutlets in heated shortening. Cook until golden brown, turning once. Transfer to a plate lined with paper towels. Repeat with remaining cutlets. Drain grease, reserving 1/2 cup.
Using the reserved drippings in the pan, prepare gravy over medium heat. Blend in 1/4 cup flour to form a paste. Gradually add milk to desired consistency, stirring constantly. For a thicker gravy add less milk; for a thinner gravy stir in more. Heat through, and season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve over chicken fried steak. Servings Per Recipe: 4

I think it's a piece of chicken breast meat, probably pounded with a meat hammer/tenderizer until it's flat, then rolled in flour and fried in a hot pan of oil.

It is usually called a "tornado" when packaged for grocery stores. They are very tender, thready, perfectly round pieces of meat. They are very cheap to buy and you usually only find them in "family packs".
