The prohibition is two-fold.
Misuse of commodity (sperm needs to gow here it does the most good).
Self love and lust (your love in turned inwards onto yourself, and not outwards for the betterment of mandkind)

The bible doesn't really touch masturbation (No pun intended).
So I don't think it is on God's big list of "bad things to do". However if you seriously want to know... According to scripture, the actual act is not a sin, only lusting is. So if you can do it with out lusting, then your fine. Also, after doing it, according to the scriptures you are unclean for an entire day. So it is a commandment to clean yourself after wards (and that goes with any type of sex).
But if masturbation is leading you to commit other sins, it might be a good idea to try and knock the habit.

Thou shall not churn thine own butter.
Funny enough Jesus said that some men are Enoch's (people without a !@#$) because they were born that way, while some have been made that way by the hands of man, some (like Jesus and the Apostles) make themselves Enoch's for the kingdom of heavens sake (not literally, but they were abstinent), whoever can receive this gift; let him receive this gift"
So Jesus acknowledged that not everyone has what it takes to be abstinent.
In fact the Apostle Paul said that it's good for a man never to get married, but because there is so much sexual immorality in the world that people should (if they can't take not having sex) get married. But he said it as a concession and not as a command.

I disagree with some other posts - I think masturbation is TOTALLY natural (otherwise, why would animals hump things? Why do pretty much 99% of men do it?)
And I think sure, why not? As long as you're not doing any harm.
Though I think porn (especially rape porn, s&m etc) can be degrading and makes you think less of sex. If you're thinking about someone you love, that's the best scenario! :P Otherwise, just try and not cross too much of a line with it, but have many happy w*nks!

Sexual desire is especially strong during youth. The Bible calls this period when sexual desires are at their peak "the bloom of youth." (1 Corinthians 7:36) During this crucial time in life, a Christian youth should learn to "get possession of his own vessel in sanctification and honor." (1 Thessalonians 4:4) That is, you must learn how to cope with and control your sexual feelings. This is crucial to having a healthy, balanced view of sex. Masturbation is not a natural thing, therefore condemned by God.

The question is "what is the Bible's stance on masturbation," not your stance.

The Bible never mentions masterbation. The "Sin of Onan" was that he failed to complete the copulative act with his dead brother's wife, in violation of the social traditions of the day.

Its even a sin to think about it. Sex is purely for reproducing and not for pleasure. Well thats according to the Southern Baptists.

It is not directly addressed as a sin.
It is not wrong but all things must be done in moderation.
