In the USA, highly unlikely that any retailer would spend the money to hire a lawyer to collect a debt unless you owed them tens upon tens of thousands of dollars. Most creditors hire collection agencies to negotiate debt repayment terms. But if it ever does go that far, then yes, you may possibly have your wages garnished.

Yes.
They usually take you to court, and they hope you don't show up for the hearing. They get a judgment against you, and if you don't pay in the allotted time (determined by local laws) then they can move to collect by any legal means. If you're an employee, that can (and does) include going for your paycheck.
Then again, most retail companies simply write off the debt, and report it to the credit bureau where it goes on your credit report.

Yep...sure can...if you go to court and they order a judgement against you...your wages will be garnished..don't know about other states..but in Indiana..it's 50% of your take home pay!

if they go to court and win, they can garnish your wages just like any other debt
my advice: enter into a reasonable payment plan with them, don't break a payment promise, and you'll avoid court fees

yes must go to court and win. a lawyer can't make you pay they only represent a client.
