If they come illegally, having a child will complicate their deportation. It's also much more affordable in America, because all of the freebies as far as health care goes.

There are more Mexican men in the US than in the small towns where immigrants come from. There are many small towns where most of the young men are in the US. I bet the birth rate in those places is quite low compared to the cities where more young men stay. In the immigrant enclaves in the US, men outnumber the women. Here is a keen tidbit for you...did you know that babies born to Mexican women in the US are girls (rather than boys) by a higher percentage than those born in Mexico? Nature likes things balanced.....;)

Probably because of better pre natal care,combined with more abundance of food and a healthier environment.
More baby's that are conceived go to full term. With a less chance of premature babies you have a higher birth weight.That means the baby's survives and thrives.
Other than that I don't know.

How about the ability to house and feed them. Add that to the fact that many Mexican males (required for the egg to get fertilized) are here in the US working. If your fact is right, it certainly is not mysterious.

Lower infant mortality rate in US than in Mexico, due to a number of factors including but not limited to, better:Health care,living conditions,nutrition, etc...

because when they have a child in mexico, they dont get to take advantage of the same social programs as we have here. i.e. welfare and the like. there is no beneifit to have as many children there. thats why they come here in the first place! because our companies will hire them and they can take advantage of our social programs

The more children an illegal has in the U.S., the harder it is for the INS to deport them, since the children are U.S. citizens.
