He's different, yeah - but that does not necessarily make him a loon.
Or, am I a loony, too? (Don't answer this!!!)
Right here in my office I have:
1. 2 Crucifixes
2. About 5 different bibles and prayer books
3. A small prayer altar
4. My purple stole
5. A Hymnal
6. The New Jerome Biblical Commentary
7. Eight different icons on my wall of Jesus, the Theotokos, Francis of Assisi and the Last Supper...
I guess I'm a proud loon, too! But my wife is the only female visitor to this house that counts!

Dear Mr. Simmons,
i would suggest asking about what he believes. That way you'll be able to confirm what he believes-- that's a lot more important than some of the secondary things. Just because someone doesn't watch tv, etc. does not mean that they believe the right things.
i think that would also be the best way to know instead of asking others. He seems like someone who takes his religion seriously. Sounds a lot like my house actually- except i have a tv, ps2, and my computer. He could just be a very serious student of God's word.
Best way though is to find out from him and not from people who want to use this as an opportunity to bash someone they don't even know.
Hope that helps,
Nickster

Yes. Although he prolly just put all of that there right before you came over. As far as the "no female visitors" im not touching that with a 10 foot sh*t pole but you get the idea.

I would say that he has his religion as the focus, or the centre, of his life.
Whether or not that makes him loony is a matter of opinion.
How does he behave outside his home? I would think that this would be a more reliable test for loonyness.
Well, that...and any padlocked rooms in the house.

Did he try to convert you while you were a guest in his home? I mean SERIOUSLY try to convert you? If the answer is "Yes", then I would call him a religious loony. If the answer is "No", I'd say it's more likely that he's just OCD. So long as he's not hurting anyone with his religion, I don't see anything wrong with it.

I hope there is more to your question.........
..........like, did he offend you in some way?
He seems to be very religious
You seem to be very judgemental
Epistle Of Saint Paul To The Ephesians
Chapter 4
31 Let all bitterness, and anger, and indignation, and clamour, and blasphemy, be put away from you, with all malice. 32 And be ye kind one to another; merciful, forgiving one another, even as God hath forgiven you in Christ.

The sad thing about it is that if he had pornographic magazines and pictures of naked women (Or Men) on the walls, He would be considered NORMAL and you wouldn't be asking this question

Your neighbor uses his religion to take attention away from his troubled life, but until he faces his problems he will never overcome them.
