different species...the "pigeons" everyone sees in cities, the greyish birds that are found everywhere...used to have the common name, "Rock Dove", but it has been renamed "Rock Pigeon". There are distinct doves and pigeons although they are in the same family, they are different species.

They are the same species,but the same thing. A pigeon also has a stronger beak. There are over 300 species of doves which includes pigeons. a dove doesn't have a homing in stink ,where a pigeon does. The white doves at weddings and funerals are really pigeons.there is a white dove but if released in the wild it will not survey , it has no ability to search for food or protect its self. They are in the same family, but different species. There are may varieties of pigeon and dove. Some more common doves are the rock dove, mourning dove and ring neck dove.

well pigeons and doves are from same family. Pigeon and dove are simliar to each other. Pigeon are in gray mix blue color and little attractive while dove are in white and very attractive .

No, they are not. pigeons are gray, very common, and are can be smart at times, like carrier pigeons. Doves are white, very pretty, and can also be smart if they are trained to do certain things. They are mostly sold and bought, and are not that common, because you do not see them out in the street.
