It depends how far through they are, if they are mostly erupted and not lying too close to the nerve canal (for lower wisdom teeth ) they can usually be done in the Dental Surgery.

If they are Impacted they are usually done by and Oral Surgeon in a Hospital, this can be done under local or general anaesthetic.

Hope this helps!

You have your wisdom teeth extracted at the dentist's office. It is an outpatient procedure and depending on whether your wisdom teeth are impacted or not and how many you are having removed, can take anywhere from an hour to a couple hours. i had all four of my wisdom teeth pulled at the same time and it took about an hour and a half. You will be prescribed some pretty good pain medication for use at home. make sure you have someone to drive you home after the procedure as you will be unable to drive.

I have an impacted wisdom tooth and any pain that I get is not from it pressing on my other teeth, but food getting trapped between it and the adjacent tooth and causing gingivitis (gum disease). Try a mouthwash such as Corsodryl, it should ease the pain a bit, as well as flossing. Or try oil of cloves, tastes disgusting but eases the pain. It would be best to leave the tooth in if possible as there are more risks with infection to the wound left by the operation, also if your roots are intertwined with those of other teeth it could be a tricky op (make sure you get an x-ray before the op)

The answer to your question is yes, As long as the wisdom tooth is coming out the right way through the gum and is not painful to you it is best to leave it in, the dentist will take your wisdom tooth out if it is causing you pain, or if the tooth is coming through the gum the wrong way, my dentist was going to take out my wisdom tooth next Friday, but as it's not causing me pain and looks ok, he said it's best to leave it in, thank god i thought i don't like the dentist i get really scared

They can do it either way. Depends on how many of the wisdom teeth you are having out and how much is involved in getting them out. I had all 4 of mine removed in the hospital. Get it over and done with that way.

My sister just had to have hers seen to, they took the tooth above it out instead as she was having problems with them meeting. i think dentists are reluctant to take them out but will do in the dentist, I had a tooth removed and it was very [painful, get ready for the infection in the roof of your mouth (depending on where the tooth is)

Mine were impacted and they were taken out at a dental surgery office. I didn't have to go to a hospital, but it wasn't done at my regular dentist.

it depends on how serious the wisdom tooth is. if it is just a strait forward procedure then the dentist can do it but if it could be complicated then you will be refereed to the hospital

it depends, if the tooth has come through fine, then a dentist should be able to remove it, but if it is impacted, or unerrupted there is a chance you'd need to be referred to the hospital

Yes they can, but if it is a complicated way the tooth sits in the bone of your jaw, they may refer you to an oral surgeon who can either put you out with a general or twilight sleep.
Good luck and God Bless
