Because people stop thinking about others and focus only on themselves.

Well, at weddings you are joining together two families that really don't know each other. Each family only knows the Bride and Groom (usually). So, when you have this mom and that mom and this aunt and that aunt trying to throw out idease, their personalities seem to clash a bit. Plus, all of the stress that is involved during the wedding planning and the wedding itself adds to it quite a bit!

EVERYTHING changes with a wedding. Relationships with parents, other family members, friends, etc. There are mixed feelings with these changes as well. Think of how your parents must feel having to let go of the very person they brought into this world. Protected, nursed, taught loved.
Granted some can be HORRIBLE, why I don't know, but cut them a little slack.

Alcohol will do it. Even if there isn't alcohol at the reception, it's a known fact that 97.3% of people get tanked before attending. Think about it...it makes it that much more interesting...and gives the bride and groom plenty to talk about after the fact. lol.
The only way around this is to elope.

Because most families don't get on that well! They only gather together at weddings and funerals and don't bother keeping in touch regularly.

If they act a fool every other time. What makes you think they will change just because somebody is getting married?
